A:- No. IEC is not required for personal imports. In place of IEC, 0100000053 is to be mentioned as permanent IEC allotted for use by persons importing or exporting goods for personal use. |
Q.2 From which Customs office Precious item like Diamond, Precious and Semi – Precious stones can be cleared if imported in Mumbai |
Ans:- In Mumbai Precious Cargo Customs Clearance Centre (PCCCC) situated at Bharat Diamond Bourse, Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai is designated to clear Precious Cargo. For more details Public Notice No. 06/20167 dated 31.05.2016 may be referred. |
Q.3 What are the documents required to clear Precious Goods. |
Ans:- For clearance of precious and semi–precious cargo imported or exported as personal use from PCCCC following documents are required:
i. Copy of PAN Card.
ii. Copy of AADHAR Card.
iii. Invoice and Packing list of the imported goods having all the details like description, quantity, Net Weight, Gross Weight, Unit Price, Total Value of the goods, Term of Invoice etc.
iv. Copy of House Airway Bill.
v. Copy of Master Airway Bill.
vi. Proof of purchase made like Bill of the seller, proof of payment etc.
vii. Any other documents which is required as per the existing Policies/Rules/Regulations.
(B) For clearance of precious and semi-precious cargo to be imported or exported through PCCCC.
i. Copy of valid IEC.
ii. Registration as First time Importer and Exporter.
iii. Invoice and Packing list of the imported goods having all the details like description, quantity, Net Weight, Gross Weight, Unit Price, Total Value of the goods, Term of Invoice etc.
iv. Copy of House Airway Bill.
v. Copy of Master Airway Bill.
vi. Any other documents which is required as per the existing Policies/Rules/Regulations. |
Q.4 Whether it is necessary to file Bill of Entry to clear personal goods? |
Ans:- Bill of Entry has to be filed in system at ICEGATE Portal to clear the Personal Precious Goods. It can be filed by self or with the help of Authorized Customs Broker for PCCCC. While filing the Bill of Entry to be cleared from PCCCC it is necessary to select Port Code INDPC04 as port of clearance of the goods. At the time of filing of Bill of Entry all the relevant document are required to be uploaded in E-SANCHIT.. |
Q.5 What CTH (HS Code) is to be mentioned in B/E while filing the Bill of Entry. |
Ans:-In case of importer or exporter holding a valid IEC they may file B/E under CTH 71 as per the description and nature of the goods however for personal import and export it is necessary to file Bill of Entry under CTH 9804.

Q. 6. What is the rate of duty being charged for personal imports? |
A:- Standard rate of Basic Customs Duty is 35% of the value of the goods, GST is 28% and other CESS as applicable are being charged for personal imports |
