Exporters must obtain an Importer Exporter Code (IEC) from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) for filing a Shipping Bill. Exporters must also register their Authorised Foreign Exchange Dealer Code (AD Code) with Customs. Exporters intending to export under an Export Promotion Scheme must register their Licences/DEEC book with the Customs Authorities. Depending on the export policy, exporters may need specific licenses or permits from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) or other concerned authorities.
Upon arrival, goods are entered into the shed based on the checklist and other declarations submitted at the Service Centre. Port authorities verify and endorse the actual received quantity on the checklist.
Two samples are drawn and recorded in the system.
A Test Memo (in three copies) is prepared and signed by Customs and the exporter/authorized representative. Samples are sent to the designated testing agency.
Some Shipping Bills are automatically processed based on declarations. In other cases, a Customs Officer manually verifies the information and may request samples for classification or valuation checks.
Exporters or CHAs can check the status at the Service Centre/KIOSK available at Export Shed.
Once goods are exported, the drawback claim is automatically processed.
No separate drawback claim filing is needed.
